One of the most important and interesting additions to the Living Land are the Wonders, supported by the World Law of the same name. These mysterious ruins and fantastical locations appear and disappear randomly anywhere in the Living Land, and even below the surface! The reason for these wonders is unknown. Baruk Kaah believes that these ruins are trophies or monuments to his victories. Others warn that the lost worlds are warnings, reminders of mistakes of the past. And some believe that this is a way Lanala is trying to expunge the corruption that is Baruk Kaah and his Darkness Device, as the wonders provide tools, relics, and information useful to the defenders of Core Earth.
Out of all the realms that invaded Earth, the Living Land is the one with the most spiritual power. Most Jackatts (worshipers of Lanala) are able to use the abundant spiritual energy in the cosm to manipulate plants, and those who are stronger invokers can channel incredible powers that can have literally earth shattering results.
If that weren’t enough, Lanala walks the Living Land, which means Storm Knights might meet her face to face...hopefully under good circumstances.
There was some debate about whether we should do statistics for Baruk Kaah and the other High Lords, but in the end we decided it was an absolute must for a couple of reasons.
Baruk Kaah is the High Lord of the Living Land, and if you consider him a joke, he’ll smash your city just for spite and make you watch, then personally crush you in his bare hands. He may be a primitive lizard, but that does not mean that he’s stupid. Just because he’s all about brute force doesn’t mean he isn’t surprisingly cunning too.
He is second only to the Gaunt Man for the oldest High Lord, and there is a good reason. The reasons are littered all around the Living Land.
Now that the Torg Eternity Kickstarter products are off to the printers, it’s time to take a look forward to the next Kickstarter—The Living Land! The primitive reality that invaded North America is the focus of the first cosm sourcebook and “super adventure” for Torg Eternity.
Earlier this year, we held a quiet opening of the Ulisses Spiele International web store, where we are selling many of our products directly to North American customers. (Note - we will ship worldwide, but our warehouse is based in the US, so international shipping may be expensive.)
For me, one of the best parts of working on Torg is getting to create the strange creatures that populate the different cosms. Ross Watson did an amazing job on the Living Land sourcebook, but there was room for me to contribute by bolstering the character options—and adding some more monsters!
In just two days, the 50th Gen Con will officially begin, and it promises to be the most amazing one ever! Badges are entirely sold out, and the convention has expanded so much that it has even taken over Lucas Oil Stadium!
With so many people there, we definitely hope to see many of our fans who follow us on social media, read our website, and talk on our forums. Because you are special to us, we wanted to give you early warning on a few Gen Con special deals and limited offers.
One of the newest pieces of the Torg Eternity design is the addition of the Cosm Decks. These decks help reinforce the World Laws of each cosm, but they put more of the narrative control into the players' hands.
Darrell and Ross recently had a conversation about the design philosophy behind this new approach. Take a look:
